Privacy
A simple reader, with device-local saving.
20 Today is operated by Josh Bardsley. For questions about personal information or to make a privacy request, email info@20-today.com.
The reader has no advertising, embedded social posts or externally loaded fonts. We have not added third-party analytics scripts.
Hosting and traffic information
This website is hosted by ChatGPT Sites. The host records traffic information, including visitor and page-view statistics. It may also process access and security information. Reading the public site does not require an account. This is separate from the reader’s device-local saving and progress features. See the host’s Sites documentation for its description of analytics and access.
Saved stories
When you choose Save, this reader stores the story’s ID in your browser so you can find it again on this device. It does not store copies of source articles. Unsaving a story removes its ID; these choices do not sync between devices.
Reading progress
If you select “Remember my progress”, the reader stores IDs of briefs you open on this device. Read stories have softer headlines and a “Read” marker while this is enabled. Turn it off to delete that progress. You can read without enabling it.
New since your last visit
If you select “Highlight new stories”, the reader remembers a visit timestamp on this device and keeps a temporary comparison point for the current browsing session. It uses these to label newly selected, still-current briefs on a later visit. Your first visit does not label everything as new. These timestamps are not sent to 20 Today; host traffic processing is separate. Turning this off deletes the visit timestamps and preference. A visit restarts after 30 minutes away from the reader.
Your home briefing
“UK as home” saves a UK preference in this browser. Home and the home-screen shortcut then open the UK briefing; Global remains available beside it. Choosing Global directly does not cancel your preference. Turn the switch off, or clear reading preferences, to restore Global as home. This choice does not sync between devices and does not use your location. Without JavaScript or browser storage, choose either edition using its link.
Appearance
Choosing Dark mode in the header stores your appearance preference in this browser. It stays on this device and is not sent to 20 Today. Clearing reading preferences also resets the appearance to light.
Welcome screen
A temporary marker in this tab keeps the three-second introduction from repeating as you browse stories. It is recorded after the introduction finishes or you skip it, and is not sent to 20 Today. Refreshing the home briefing shows it again. You can skip immediately; reduced-motion settings show a still logo.
Home-screen shortcut
You can add this site to your home screen using the instructions at the foot of each page. It needs an internet connection. No 20 Today account is required. The reader does not download an offline edition.
Email and external links
If you email us, your message and contact details are used to respond to the query. Source links open the source’s own site, where its privacy policy applies. No contact form or mailing-list subscription is enabled here.
Clearing these device-local choices does not delete host records or emails you have sent us.
